I teach. A lot. I’ve had classes with under 10 students and over 100. No matter the class, I make sure that theory is front and center. I have spent a lot of time over the past few years thinking about what it takes to get students to theorize and build a solid explanation in their writing.

Along with lit/theory review papers, I often assign papers where students have to use sociological theory to explain different social events. Some personal favorites include how would Mead and Weber slap Chris Rock at the Oscars and how Du Bois and Cooper would analyze race on the bachelor.
